This information statement is for all students wishing to compete in selection trials,
for primary aquathlon OR for secondary triathlon.

Selection
Criteria

· A team of up to 10 males and 10 females per age group may be selected in the Metropolitan East Regional Triathlon Team to represent the region at the 2009 Secondary Schools’ State Triathlon Championships to be conducted at the Suttons Beach, Redcliffe from Thursday 19 February 2009 to Saturday 21 February 2009. Results from the trial race listed below will be used to select the team.

· A team of up to 10 males and 10 females may be selected in the Metropolitan East Regional Aquathlon Team to represent the region at the 2009 Secondary Schools’ State Aquathlon Championships to be conducted at the Suttons Beach, Redcliffe Saturday 21 February 2009. Results from the trial race listed below will be used to select the team.

· The age determination date for the 2009 19 YRS & UNDER STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND THE AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS’ TRIATHLON CHAMPIONSHIPS is 31^st December 2009.

Costs

Entry fees will apply to these trial races. Students will be informed of these fees on the official Entry Form noted below.

Forms to be
completed

Students wishing to nominate for these trials MUST complete two sets of forms.

Students must complete and send the METROPOLITAN EAST AQUATHLON/TRIATHLON TEAM NOMINATION FORM to the Metropolitan East Triathlon Convenor, Annette Bales, by Wednesday 5 November 2008.

Students must also complete and submit the OFFICIAL AQUATHLON/TRIATHLON QUEENSLAND ENTRY FORM to Triathlon Queensland. Closing dates are noted on the entry form. Students may mail, fax, enter online or deliver entry forms. Entry forms for this event will only be available from the Triathlon Qld Web Site when they become available. (www.triathlonqld.com.au)

Selected
Students

· Successful competitors will be notified by mail of their inclusion in the Metropolitan East team by 28 November 2008. All selected team members will receive in the mail: an acceptance form, team apparel form, parental consent and medical form and information relating to the Queensland Championships.

· All selected team members must return all information and money by the due date indicated otherwise they will forfeit their position in the team.

· Students who are selected and unable to compete should notify the Team Manager as soon as possible so a reserve can be notified.

· NO ADDITIONAL COMPETITORS WILL BE PERMITTED TO ENTER DIRECTLY INTO THE QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS

ONLY REGIONAL TEAM MEMBERS WILL BE PERMITTED TO RACE IN THE QUEENSLAND CHAMPIONSHIPS.

Please be aware of the changes in the times of the Met East Triathlon/Aquathlon Trials being held at Lake Kawana on Sunday 9 November.
