Precarnival: 8:30am sharp;
an official from each team is required to attend
Selection 1: 12 noon with lunch
Selection 2: 1:15pm after Possibles v Probables game |
| Cost |
Cost per district: $400.00
Cost per team: $200.00 |
| Catering |
The canteen will operate during the day
with a limited menu. It is recommended that students
consider bringing their own fresh lunches. |
| Equipment |
Teams: set of singlets numbered 4 to 15
Teams: warm up balls (match balls will be supplied)
Students: water bottle
Students: recommended that students b ring at least
two pairs of playing socks (and thongs for wearing between
games) |
| Competitors |
Each district is invited to nominate one boys team and one
girls team.
Students must be twelve years or under in 2010.
No student who turns 13 years during 2010 is allowed to
compete; however, students in secondary schools who
are 12 years or under in 2010 are eligible. |

| Cost |
Each District is required to pay a levy of
$200 to cover
costs of court hire, equipment etc.
The District Manager’s school will be invoiced for this
amount.
Money will not be accepted on the day. |

A canteen will

Referees and
Scorebench |
Where
possible, Association Umpires will be used for each game.
However, team officials may be called upon to assist
in umpiring when their own team is not playing.

| Playing Rules |
As per FIBA rules plus:
Four 10min quarters
Clock doesn’t stop
1min break at quarter time and three
quarter time, 2min break at half time.
3min break between games.
Maximum of 3 timeouts per team.
No extra time |

Selections |
Each district is invited to send a team
of ten players for each section of the trials.
As per MESSB Policy, one teacher from each district
may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel.
Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be
held. |

| Cost |
$215.00 per district team.
If there are less than 10 players on a team, then no student
should pay more than $24.00 for the trial. The monies
are to be banked in the district manager’s/coach’s school.
The regional convenor will invoice the school as per
regional policy. |
Referees and
Score Bench |
Each team has
been allocated times for scoring.
Referees will be arranged through the local associations.
If schools have suitably qualified students they should
nominate through the regional convenor.
They will also
be eligible for selection to represent the region at the
State Championships as referees. |
| Playing Rules |
As
per FIBA rulebook except as below:-
Four 10 minute
quarters
Clock doesn’t
stop (except for the last 2 minutes of game)
1 minute break
at quarter and three quarter time, 2 minute break at half
time
3 minute break
between games

| State Championships |
The State Championships (Open) will be held at the Caloundra
from Thursday 13 May to Sunday 16 May. Students must
be willing to commit to full participation in these
championships to be eligible for selection in the regional
team. |
| United Team |
The “United” team will be a combination of players from each
district who were unable to be selected in their district
team – nominate any players to the regional
convenor. This enables the draw to allow each district
to play 3 games on the day. |
| Catering |
Canteen facilities at SDBA will be open on the day of the
trials. |
| Equipment |
All teams are required to supply a
quality match ball. |
| Selection
Procedures |
As per MESSB
Policy, one teacher from each district may be nominated as a
member of the selection panel. Selections will be
final and no further play-offs will be held.

| First Aid |
All team managers are required to bring
their own first aid kit. In addition, sports medicine
personnel will be present for the duration of the trials. |
