2010 Secondary 14yrs Trials Information

State Championships

This year the State 14 years and Under Cricket Carnival will be held in Brisbane North at the Grammar School grounds.  This will be a five-day carnival, from Sunday 28th November to Thursday 2nd December.  The age qualification for this Carnival is that boys must not turn 15 before September 1st, 2010.  After this Carnival, a State team will be selected to attend a national Carnival in March/April 2011 at a venue yet to be determined.

Dates and Venues EITHER
Clairvaux MacKillop Coll nets on Monday, 22 March 2010, from 3:45pm to 5:15pm.
OR
Villanova Coll nets on Thursday, 25 March 2010, from 3:45pm to 5:15pm.
THEN
From these trials a train-on squad of approx 20 boys will be selected to continue some training towards the end of winter and a one-day trial will be held on Monday, 13 September 2010, to select the final 12 players.
Students may attend either of the March trials but must be aware that they must attend one of these trials to be considered for selection.  If a boy cannot attend, he must contact the Convenor to explain the circumstances of the non-attendance at the trial if he wishes to be considered.
Cost Cost per student to attend a March trial is $8.00.
Students invited to attend the September trial will pay an additional $2.00
Nomination The various required forms are available from your school's cricket co-ordinator.  The Nomination Form must be signed by the school coach or the cricket co-ordinator.  All forms must be brought to the March trial.

Catering Bring all own food and drink.  There are no facilities nearby.
Supervision Each district is to bring no more than twelve nominees to the trials.
Equipment

Each district to bring an equipment kit and first aid kit on the day of the trials Students can bring their own cricket kit if they want (eg bats, gloves etc.)

Shade There is limited shade.  Districts should bring their own tent.
Cost The cost per student is $5.00.  Money will not be accepted on the day.  District managers' schools will be invoiced.
Selection Procedures As per MESSB Policy, one teacher from each district may be nominated as a member of the Selection Panel.  Selections will be final and no further play-offs will be held
First Aid All team managers are required to bring their own first aid kit.

Times Officials meet at the club house at 8.30 am.
Trials commence at 9.00 am.
Catering A canteen will operate during the trials.  Boys can feel free to bring their own lunches and drinks.
Equipment

Each team is required to supply a set of stumps & bails, as well as extra equipment for students in the team who don’t own their own gear.

Shade There is limited shade at the venue.  Districts should consider bringing shade.
Competitors Each district is invited to nominate a team of twelve players.
Cost Cost is $25 per student.  The managers' schools will be invoiced for this amount.  Money will not be accepted on the day.
Umpires Team officials will be rostered for umpiring duties.

Competition Rules

Game time – start at 9:00 am

40 over comp with 35 min lunch  -  drinks after every 10 overs.

First Aid

Sports Medicine personnel will be available from the duration of the trial.  Ice will be provided at venue.

Risk Management

Convenor will conduct a risk assessment on the playing fields each morning prior to the commencement of play.

Any decision on changes to playing times or conditions of play, will be at the discretion of the Convenor.

2010 Information Pack for 19s Boys Regional Trials

Selection Process The selection process is as follows:
(1)  There will be two "first" trials located geographically.  (See below for details.)  Nominating students should attend one of these two sessions.  Students are free to choose which session they will attend.

(2)  Students selected to proceed will be invited to a "final" trial.  (See below for details.)  The Regional Team will be selected from this session.
Session Venues, Dates and Times (1)  EITHER
Redeemer Lutheran Coll on Wednesday, 3 March 2010, from 4:00pm to approx 5:30pm
OR
Anglican Ch Grammar Sch on Thursday, 4 March 2010, from 4:00pm to approx 5:30pm
NOTE:  The trials session for Thursday, 4 March, has been deferred to Thursday, 11 March, 2010.  All other details relating to that session remain the same.


(2)  BY INVITATION
On Tuesday, 9 March 2010, from 8:30am to 3:00pm.
NOTE:  This Invitational Session has been deferred.  It will now be held on Tuesday, 16 March 2010.  All other details relating to that session remain the same.
Cost Cost per student is $8.00.  This is to be paid to the Convenor on the day of the student's "first" trial.
Equipment Balls will be provided.
Students should bring their own playing and protection equipment.
Catering Students will need to provide their own food and adequate supplies of water in personal dispensers.
Required Forms Students are required to bring these forms completed to their "first" session.
