2010 Trials for Secondary 15yrs and 18yrs Teams

Official Meeting An officials meeting (one district official per district team) will be held at the grounds at 8:00am sharp on the day of the trails.
Forms C8 and C9 must be submitted at the meeting.
Catering A canteen will operate during the trials OR students can choose to bring their own food.
Equipment Students will need to supply their own personal protective equipment.
Each team will need to supply a quality match ball.
Shade Limited shade is available.  Teams should consider bringing their own shade.
Competitors Each District is invited to nominate one team of sixteen players in each age division.
Team managers should ensure, prior to the day, that all students have submitted the required personal details and medical forms.
For their participation, all students must have had their schools notified prior to the trials.
Birth dates of all students must be checked to ensure that they are competing in the correct age division:
15 years born 1995 or later;  18 years born 1992 or later.
Cost Each District team will be required to pay a levy of $160.00 per team to cover the costs of referees, sports medicine, catering and regional trial levy.
Each District Manager's school will be invoiced for this amount.
Money will not be accepted by the Convenor on the day.
Referees Where possible, referees from the BRL Association will be used for each game.  However, team officials may be called upon to assist when their own team is not playing.
Selection Procedures At the conclusion of each game, a selection meeting will be convened for the relative age division.
As per MESSB policy, one teacher from each district must be nominated as a member of the selection panel.
The Regional Coach will chair the selection panel for the relevant age division.
The Regional Convenor and/or Regional Sports Office officials will oversee the selection process.
Selections will be final.
Panel members are advised to maintain selection notes.
Competition Rules Playing rules as per ARL handbook unless stated otherwise.
Under 15s will play by ARL SafePlay Code of Conduct rules.
Games start and finish on the siren related to draw.
No half times.
Unlimited interchange.
No goal kicks.
First Aid All team managers are required to bring their own first aid kit.
Sports medicine personnel will be available for the duration of the trials.
Risk Management It is strongly recommended that students wear mouth guards.
Regional guidelines for hydration should be expressed to all students by team management.
All medical conditions must be advised on the appropriate form.
QSS Policy as it relates to expectations of conduct as a team official, a player or a spectator should be expressed to the appropriate people.

Catering

A canteen will operate on the both days of the carnival, selling normal canteen food.

Equipment and Shade

Each team will be required to supply a match ball for their games. There is a grandstand there for your shade requirements.

Competitors

Each of the 4 districts is invited to nominate one team of a maximum of 17 players.  Players will have an assigned jersey number for the entire carnival to aid the selection process.

Cost

Each player will be levied $18.00 (GST inclusive) to cover the cost of running the carnival over the 2 days. Each district is responsible for collecting the money from each player. The school of each district treasurer will be invoiced for this amount.  No money will be collected on the day.

Referees

QRLTrainee referees will be used at this carnival.  If they are not available coaches / managers will be called upon to referee.

Carnival Format

As this is only a selection trial no points will be recorded.  There will be no kicking for goal.  Each district will play 3 games over the two days. The games will be 2x20 minute halves, with a 5 minute half time.  At the conclusion of these games, a Probables v Possibles game will be played.

Procedures

The U/11s and U/12s selections will be done separately.  Each selection panel will be chaired by the regional coach of each team.  ONE TEACHER from each district will be nominated as a member of the selection panel.  Selection meetings will be held at the completion of each game.
